The New Horizons for Seniors Program funded and approved by the Government of Canada was officially launched in 2025. LEGAC International Arts Cultural Exchange Centre is honored to have received approval for Culinary Heritage: Cooking Together Across Generations
Date: Feb 1st, 2026 Time: 10:30 AM – 12 PM Location: XINFLIX auditorium 421 Bentley St unit 9, Markham, ON L3R 9T2 Number of Participants: 200+ (includes senior and youth performers, volunteers, organizers, conductors and audiences) Event Overview: Our goal is to merge artistic and musical theme to enhance psychological drama of the stage play and reflect active life experience and cultural heritage for seniors. groups, volunteers) build joyful and hopeful activities for seniors together.
Main Highlights of the event: Introduce cookbook with multi-culture background include International food style and nutrition for seniors. And focused on cultural heritage, nutrition, and intergenerational connection. The event brought elders and youth together in a collaborative atmosphere to introduce traditional food-making practices, These experiences fostered not only culinary learning but also storytelling and meaningful dialogue across cultures and generations.
Social Values of the event: Embodied core social values including intergenerational learning, cultural preservation, cross-cultural appreciation, public health education, and community tie. The activity perfectly represented the goals of the “New Horizon Elderly Program” where elders serve as cultural guardians and youth as agents of innovation. And promoted not only nutritional awareness and cultural respect but also a vision for a happier, more connected, and inclusive community.
As part of its long-term impact, we announced the launch of its ”Flavors Across Generations” project, which will include monthly intergenerational cooking sessions and preparation for next International Food Culture Festival.
